Yes, it is again the Google Cloud Printing and we are here to make use of this awesome wireless printing service in advanced and productive ways. In a previous article on Google cloud print, I was telling about a chrome extension that allows you to print your Documents using Cloud Printing without any mobile. But what about those who do not want to install any extension in Google Chrome or they use a different browser like Firefox or safari? Here is a solution. You can use Google Cloud Print directly, in any browser from a remote PC or Laptop. You need to have your computers connected with internet and and installed the latest version of Chrome, Firefox etc.
This option allows you print documents from any PC, laptop or mobile and at the Printer that is enabled with Google cloud Print. Does not matter what operating system you are using – it works on Windows, Linux and MAC.
Connecting Printers with Google Cloud Print
Though we have already detailed the procedure of connecting a printer in Google Cloud, here is the revision.
Connect your printer to Google cloud print. This requires you to sign-in with your Google account and then enable the Google cloud print connector. After the connection is setup successfully, you can print a test page.
The Printing Procedure
1. Copy the following piece of code replacing the <system drive>, <username> with your own.
Now run this command to launch Google Chrome browser distinguished as an Android. For instance, if you are in Windows system then press Win key + R and paste the code there and hit enter.
2. At the browser address bar, type m.gmail.com and sign-in to your Google account. Open any email message and choose the Print from the drop down list at the right corner as shown in the screenshot below.
Through this method, you can only print the documents that are already in your email account. If you need to print any document from your remote computer, at first upload them in your email account.
Note: This method is platform independent as well as browser independent. Though, I have described the whole procedure for the Chrome browser, you can use any browser like Firefox, Safari, Opera etc. to remotely print documents with Google Cloud Print. Just you have to change the default user-agent string of your browser.
For instance, if you are in Firefox, download the Firefox add-on User Agent Switcher and switch the user agent of your browser to Android or iPhone. Learn more about the changing of the default user agent from here. Once you are done, you are ready to send your print job to a computer connected with internet and printer that is Google Cloud Print enabled, using your email account from the Firefox browser.
